One and Two

While laying on top of the fur creation from Breaking Off Time from the Eternal, I say the word “one” for each of Popo’s heartbeats, while another performer says “two” for each of mine. This work begins with the sound of the heartbeat of a small elderly dog reverberating like the ticking of the large clock in an empty living room. For this work, I continually summon the words “end” and “separation.” At the moment that I perceive this thought as an arrogant belief that flows from me to my dog only, I invite a third party to record my own heartbeat. Indeed, the presence of identity.
